It was so nice to see a person sending me an email telling me he really appreciate what I told him about the Bible on the blood issue and he wants to speak with me for further investigation.Im so happy, maybe he is one of Jehovah's sheep, who tries to learn about God.He seems sincere

How I Found the Truth

  • How I found the Truth
My family was very religious , belonging to the Greek Orthodox Church. My great grandfather was an Orthodox priest. My grandmother also loved to read the Bible and she had a copy of it near her pillow. When my grandparens' children grew up, they tried to make their own life. In our small town there was a man they said he was "cursed" by the Bishop. And yeah he was a Jehovah's Witness Elder. All the town was against him. My uncle , as a curious boy tried to get contact with this man. I should mention to this point that those were the years of troubles in Greece, because it was a dictatorship and the brothers were meeting in secret because of the persecution. At the middle of the night my uncle went to the brother's house and knocked the door. There were some brothers there studying some books. The brother gave him the book "Truth that Leads to Everlasting Life" and made him promise that he wouldn't tell anyone. My uncle took this book and studyed by himself along with his best friend. But he never told anything about it, not in his sisters not in his parents too. When my mother's sister went to college she met a "different" girl. Yes, she was a JW. she became aqcuanted with here and started a bible study. She eventually got baptised in 1975. My mother learned this and begun to study the bible too.My grandmother was really very angry about it. She didnt want my mother to become a Witness. You see she was very religious. But my mom continued her bible study and eventually got baptised in 1978 in secret of course , near the sea. The brothers sung a hymn during baptism "Take my life and let it be" (Look at song 58 in our current songbook)Eventually my grandmother stopped being angry and she started a bible study too with a sister. Unfortunately she was hit by Alzheimer and she never became a Witness but till the day she died she was confessing that "This is the Truth" . The rest of my mother's family was really angry my mom and here family became Witnesses so most of them dont speak to us . You see many of my uncles are priests.
My father now was a Witness when he married to my mother but after some years left the Truth even though he was not causing any problem to us. He was a quite man but not interested in religion anymore. When I was a little child my mom taught me to defend my faith before others. She tried so hard to teach me the Truth. I studied with a faithful christian elder from our congregation here , a man who truly was an example of patience and spirituality. Before getting baptised my mother approached me and told me "Look child, I think you should know that I dont want to impose something on you. I taught you what I believe as being the Truth. If you want REALLY to serve Jehovah , the true God, then you belong to Him and you should dedicate youself. But only if you love him and you really want to " I appreciated my mother's attitude on this. So I tried to put Truth to the test . I prayed to God and told him that I knew he was real for me ,but I wanted a sign. If he revealed to me the truth as the Witnesses teach I would follow Him.

And then ,,,guess what!!! While I was at the school library I was reading a book which was written by a Methodist priest. I opened it and I found one page which mentioned that the first christians rejected the trinity and the immortality of the soul, they didnt went to war, they believed in Jehovah God and they were expecting a Paradise on earth!!!!!I was astonished yes. I believed in the Lord more fevently than before. I immediately got baptised.
Now, after this I had to say I faced a lot of persecution at school. Nobody wanted to talk to me as I was a "heretic" . Sometimes bigger kids bullied me. . Nevertheless, I have always thanked God for preserving my life and my courage to have patience under all this pressure. Eventually I went to the University of Athens and I got a degree in History and Archaeology. I did a major in biblical archaeology too . So as you see I tried to strengthen my faith as best as I could. Now i serve as a publisher in the local congregation and I can say Im happy even though this system is really bad. Im happy I am in the Truth and that I know Jehovah, my God, and His Holy Son, Jesus, my Lord.
