  1. It's 2025 and WTL and WOL are still being updated. I still use both tools quite a bit. I like have the full library on my Microsoft surface tablet.
  2. Usually the branch sends out a warning to the local brothers when they want us to warn the friends.
  3. There is instructions on how to backup here: https://consumer.huawei.com/my/support/backup/ Please note that it is not guaranteed this will work for JW library. I know at least with my Samsung devices that their backup software only saves the app itself, not the data on JW library, but it's worth a shot if you have Huawei tablet to restore to.
  4. What brand and model of tablet is it?
  5. I messaged you with some instructions we had created for our brothers in AV.
  6. It should work, because it can run x86 apps through emulation, although it will run slower. With the watchtower library app not being a demanding app, it should still run okay. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/arm/apps-on-arm-x86-emulation
  7. For our elderly friends unable to use a computer or tablet, we use KHConf in combination with Zoom. They are able to watch using a Roku hooked up to a television. Of course if they want to comment, zoom is the only option.
  8. When I said better supporteded, I was talking about security/OS updates. Apple usually provides at least 5 years of updates. Personally, I don't own an iPad, but I have a Microsoft surface pro 8 running Windows 11, as I prefer having full Windows, but for someone who wants something simple, I do recommend the iPad for its simplicity and reliability. I do like Android too, as I have a Samsung phone. My work provides me an iPhone and an iPad, so I get to experience a lot of different eco-systems lol. It also helps when the friends need help, so I try to stay familiar with what apple, android, and Microsoft have out there.
  9. I always recommend if you have been using an iPad for awhile to stick with with the iPad. They are better supported than Android tablets, unless you go with Samsung, but at that point you are paying similar money. You can get a good deal on a 9th gen with 256GB at best buy for $349. I think the 10th gen is 499. Be sure to get at least 256GB so you have enough room for videos, etc on JW library. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/4901816.p?skuId=4901816&sb_share_source=PDP
  10. There should be a JW library icon in the taskbar to click on that brings back the year text to the second monitor. If you hover over it you'll see thumbnail of the year text.
  11. We went with what the branch recommended and it was a USB camera for under $100. It's been working well for many years now.
  12. This would affect SMS and MMS messages when it comes to texting. If you are using an iPhone, most of your messages will go through iMessage, which is encrypted end-to-end. so those messages would not be compromised. Of course, if you have to send an SMS message from an iPhone, it could still be at risk. For Android users, if they are using RCS, it also encrypts the text end-to-end, so those messages should not be exposed, but again for SMS/MMS messages, those would be exposed. This is a good reason why a lot of the friends use Whatsapp for their messaging needs, which is end-to-end encrypted. However, nothing is 100% secure.
  13. I love my NAS (Network Area Storage). I currently have a Synology DS220+ with 2 10TB hard drives installed which back up each other. Synology has apps you can install on your smartphones to back up your pictures and works similar to Google photos. They also have an app you install on your computer to back up your computers on a regular basis to the NAS. There are other things you can do as well. Just think of it as having your own version of Google Drive or Dropbox that you don't have to pay a subscription. Some brothers have mentioned that they have SSD (Solid State Drives). Although SSD's are more reliable than traditional Hard Drives, when an SSD fails it's very hard if not impossible to get the data back. With that said the only traditional hard drives I have anymore are the ones installed in my NAS. SSD's are superior in so many ways, but you still need a traditional hard drive to get a lot of storage for an affordable cost.
  14. I've used this service to get hard drives recovered. In the past it started around $200. You can call them to get an estimate: https://drivesaversdatarecovery.com/data-recovery-services/devices-supported/hard-drive-recovery/
  15. I met my wife when I was in a band with some brothers. Some friends of the drummer came to one of our practice sessions. She was with them. I was not not looking, but thought she was nice and got to know her from a distance at first. Long story short, after 3 months, I asked her out and 6 months later we were married. We have been married for 27 years now with 2 kids.
