Detectives from the Emmett Police Department and the Idaho State Police continue their investigation Monday into the murder of Darole, D.L., Carpenter, who was found dead at his Emmett home July 9. Circumstances of his death were suspicious and police determined after an autopsy that the 78-year-old man died as a result of homicide, Gem County Prosecutor Richard Linville announced Thursday morning.

“D.L. was a very kind individual,” a friend told the Messenger Index. “He spent a lot of time in the Jehovah’s Witnesses door-to-door ministry. He loved living in the country — cows, hay and he did make beautiful saddles.”

Another friend said Carpenter was a beautiful, sweet man who would do anything for anybody and not want anything in return.

The fellow member of the Emmett Jehovah Witnesses said Carpenter was a very faithful man, quiet man who always wore a blue suit to Emmett Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, with western boots and neck tie with decorative stones or polished rocks.

Carpenter lived alone and was a private man. In spite of his age, he still made saddles. Another friend, who owns one of Carpenter’s saddles, said the craftsman cut the leather and tooled it himself.

“He always had a chuckle. He loved to figure out stuff. He used his brain and his hands and insisted on doing things him self,” the friend said, adding that he and his wife often visited the elderly man.

Carpenter was practical. When given a problem or situation, he would come up with a solution, his friend said, adding they worked on a few carpenter jobs around southern Idaho. Borrowing tools was another way the two bonded. A couple of weeks ago, Carpenter asked for help to sharpen the lawn mower blades.

“Anything you ever needed, he’d help, he’d loan you.”

Carpenter would often drop in McDonald’s on Tuesday evening for supper.

Another person who knew Carpenter from church said it makes her “heart ache to know there are people out there who could harm such loving, caring, giving people like Darole. I hate what this community is boiling down to! The burning down the churches to killing a Bible fearing man — it’s incredible! Just sickening!”

As is stated, it's incredible! Just sickening!

This wicked system needs to go.

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

This is true love we feel for our brotherhood.  We have the truth, and this is where others are lacking!!!  No matter what nationality, we truly love our brothers and sisters and we see one hurt, it saddens and stabs at our heart as we feel the pain!  It is like we personally knew this dear brother!  I pray for the family and congregation that was so close to our brother!
