The story you linked to seems fluid, as it has changed a couple times throughout the day according to my news monitor. Currently it talks about problems with the robot they sent down.

It's not looking good at the moment, I just heard on the news that the rescuers have got the failing robot into one of the refuges and there is no one there. They are sending out another robot from Perth in Western Australia to replace the bot they already have - it's over 8 hours flight from Perth to New Zealand (4 Perth to Sydney or Melbourne and over 4 New Zealand plus transfer time and whatever time it takes to get out to the mine - it could be over 12 hours before the robot reaches the mine).
