(From a Bethelite who sent this to a friend of mine and friend sent to me)

I'm sending a copy of the  bible reading schedule that is available on jw.org- in case anyone wants to print a schedule to read the bible in a year.

We had a lecture last night from Brother Geoffrey Jackson of the Governing Body.  The title was, "Fully Equipped for Every Good Work".

One of the points he highlighted in his lecture was:

If you remember from Annual Meeting, Brother Lett explained that Jehovah's name was added to the revised edition 6 times.  Here they are:

Judges 19:18

1 Samuel 2:25

1 Samuel 6:23

1 Samuel 10:26

1 Samuel 23:14

1 Samuel 23:16

He also explained that in 1950 when the New World Translation was initially released, the brothers took to heart that the majority of people at that time felt like the King James Version was THE bible.  So, this was factored in when translating the NWT.

In the same way, the revised version factored in the following:

1. The average English speaking person is not familiar with the King James Version or it's terminology

2. People like immediate comprehension

3. Communities in general, are less biblical.

***********************************************************************************

(Friends, you know, I met people in service who told me that Jesus carried a copy of the King James Bible, now you know, I really had to keep my composure from laughing my head off, and this was happening for a couple of years, even had one 2 weeks ago tell me the same thing.  What a wonderful GIFT Jehovah gave us last weekend!)

I've been told that too, KJV is the 1 st Bible and the one the apostles used. If it was good enough for them, then it's good enough for me.

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

My apologies.  I incorrectly said that one of the 6 places that Jehovah's name is added in the revised version is 1Sam 6:23...
WRONG...It's 1Sam 6:3
