Help - how can we view JW (PDF?) publications on Kindle please?

Recommended Posts

A brother who is not 'tech savvy' has been given a Kindle free gift for taking out insurance. As I own a pc and he doesn't, he has asked me to find out how he can use it for JW downloaded publications (particularly the new bible). Unfortunately, I have no idea what is required to make a Kindle compatible with PDF or e-pub documents - can anyone who knows please help?

Thank you, and agape, Graham  :)

Is this the original Kindle?

If so, I used a program called Calibre.  I downloaded the pdf to computer, then put it in Calbre (add file).  When Kindle is connected to the computer by usb Calibre recognises it and you can transfer files across.

I was never able to download directly to my Kindle except from Amazon store.

Original Kindle used mobi files, not e-pub, so I was unable to use those.

As for later incarnations of Kindle, someone else may know.

Yes you can use it to read publications. Before I can help you I would need to know the model of Kindle it is. Kindle Fire, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle Paper White, or Kindle Fire HD. Be more than happy to help you. Let me know.

Kindles use Mobi format. They can be changed on line but they work better if you do your own.

João  you can read them but it is not really fun reading, they need to be converted. Sorry about the dark font, I copied and pasted your name and got stuck with it.

If you use the Epub and convert it in Calibre you will get all the links for scriptures and subjects too.

There is a program called, Send to Kindle. All you have to do is right click on a file and then click on the send to Kindle icon and off it goes to your Kindle. Personally I prefer to have the Kindle connected to the computer to add to your Kindle files.

Thank you all for your kind posts. I had no idea what model of Kindle it is because it doesn't say anywhere - so I decided (reluctantly) to look through the installed instruction manual - and I read that it reads PDF, so Victor now has the 2013 Bible, a number of magazines, books, brochures and day text books as well as the Ministry School Benefit book, so he is over the moon!

Agape to you all and thank you :-)
