Has anyone had this problem?

Since the last 2-3 months...I can no longer see the picture of the WT and Awake when I click under Publications or Magazines.  I can still use to listen and read PDFs...but I don't see the pic.  I can't see any of the pics from the Music, Dramas, Video, etc.

Also...I have Windows 7.  Can I reload the original Windows 7 software to fix little glitches...like I used to with Windows XP and previous? ...without losing all my data.  I don't want to reformat the HD. (I had Vista before Windows 7 and was told I couldn't reload or it would reformat the HD.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you see any pictures or videos on any other website besides jw.org? What browser are you using? I would think it is a browser problem and there should be no need to reload Windows. Loading Windows again using the CD may cause you to lose data and should only be done as a last resort to fix major Windows issues.

you can do a windows repair with the cd but you have to catch it during start of setup process. this is the 2nd to last choice before a full re-install. Win 7 disk does have a migration wizard ( support / migwiz ) which actually works for most items

This is the only website I'm having a problem with.  My browser is Chrome...I also have Internet Explorer 10.

Maybe this is connected...I had to take ebay, paypal, and juno...out of my status bar at the bottom.  They quit working.  Moved the icon to the desktop and I think went through Chrome and now they work fine.

I just tried going directly through Chrome to jw.org...and it worked, I can see the pics.

I then tried going through Internet Explorer...and nothing.

My status bar has somehow become corrupted or some setting has changed...I'm not sure.

Any ideas how to fix the status bar at the bottom?

Are you talking about this site, "jwtalk.net" or "jw.org" as your topic title says?

I will post some things you can try in the morning.

Sent from my Samsung G3

It is jw.org...not this site...it works great.

Thanks a bunch, I'll check in the morning.

My one-in-all solution to fixing Internet Explorer is not to use it.  Otherwise I've found a reset can solve many problems. This can be done by going to the Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Internet Options -> Advanced tab -> Reset...

I just did a Reset and restarted my computer...didn't fix my problem.  I can't drag anything to the taskbar...and my pics are not showing on jw.org.

But thanks...I probably needed to do that anyway.

I agree with Tim, I never use Internet Explorer anymore. Microsoft still insists that websites comply with their guidelines/settings instead of what is commonly accepted on the Internet so the result is, some websites can't be viewed with IE. Chrome is much more compatible and much faster then IE.

When you say that you "Can't drag anything to the "taskbar" do you mean Windows taskbar at the bottom of your desktop? If so, right click on it and "uncheck" the "Lock the taskbar" option. Then try dragging icons or links to it.

You say "no pics on jw.org" is that with IE or Chrome? You said you see them with Chrome, right?

If so, I would just use Chrome.

In IE (Internet Explorer) go into "Tools" then click on "Internet options" and then click the "Advanced" tab. When the advanced window opens, scroll down to "Multimedia and make sure that everything is checked except, "show image download placeholders".  If the other items aren't checked, then check them and clcik on "OK" and exit out.

Then close IE and restart it.

Yeah, everything is already set at you stated...so didn't need to change anything.

I don't know why I can't drag icons to status bar...but I can live with them being just on desktop. When I try to drag them it says they are being pinned to Chrome...however they don't stay in the status bar.

Being able to SEE the WT & AW pictures is a big help...so I can do it this way.  I'll eventually upgrade...so it will get fixed then.  Not a big deal.

Thanks Musky for your help...I used to be really good with computers until the 486 platform...then I couldn't keep up and am now lost.

Thanks again for your time and assistance.

If they are just web "links" that you chose to "send to desktop" I don't think those will drag to the taskbar. The way to tell is to right-click on one of them and see if "pin to taskbar" is an option. If not, then it won't be able to be dragged to the taskbar. In Windows 7, you can create shortcut and an icon for the link and that will go on the taskbar, but I don't know what version you are running.

When I right-cllick on them, they say "pin to Google Chrome".  I just tried creating the shortcut and then dragging to taskbar...but does same thing.  A list comes up on the right with all the things that I've tried to put in taskbar.  But nothing is going to taskbar.

With the taskbar unlocked, go to the far left side and try dragging the divider bar to the right. You icons may be there, but just pushed all the way to the left and hidden. If that doesn't help, try doing the same with the right hand divider bar.

If your right-click on the chrome icon on your taskbar do you see a list of all the sites you tried to pin to your taskbar? Like this:

So there is nothing on the taskbar except the start button?

Also, try right-clicking on the taskbar, choose "toolbars" and then click on "quick launch".

What version of Windows is it? XP, Vista, Windows 7?

I don't see the "quick launch".  I am using Windows 7.

I see other things like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, msnbc...and they are fine...as far as I know.

Yes, I can see these here.

Rather than have a different spot on your taskbar for each website, Windows 7 combines them into a list and puts the list in the right click menu of your default browser (unless you drop them onto the icon of a different browser). So to easily access one of those sites quickly, right-click the Chrome icon and select the site you want from the list.
