ANother thing I will not be sorry to have gone.

TO never have a head ache again will be such a blessing. I have another one today and man it hurts. I swear I could blow my brains out and I wouldn't feel it. This one is in migraine territory. So I am going to go get a cold pack and put it on my head.

I used to get migraines that lasted 72 hours straight every single month for almost 15 years - I can truly empathize with you!  It was only the last year or two of having them that they finally started to make medications for them, but they were so expensive I couldn't afford it most of the time.  I found that Excedrin for Migraine was the best on the market for keeping them controllable if I caught it in time.  They finally started tapering off after I read a Reader's Digest article stating that most people who have migraines are lacking magnesium in their diet.  So a $3.00 bottle of magnesium (taking them as instructed on the bottle) eventually cured my problem.  They tapered off to one every other month, then one every six months and then one a year and then nothing.

Since trying to get enough magnesium I have eliminated almost all of my migraines. I used to get 3 or 4 a week. With the pain so bad I had to go to bed all day. Now I take Epsom Salt baths and take magnesium supplements.

I couldn't eat, drink or sleep for 72 hours and when the throwing-up started (and it always did), the pain went to a whole new level!  Couldn't tolerate light or sound either.  The only good thing was that I'd usually end up losing 5 or 7 pounds, but it would take a few days to recooperate, so I would lose a week to 10 days every month!  I sure wish I had found that article about the magniseum years earlier - would of saved me a great deal of pain.  Sure am glad you found that it works for you Vernalee - how did you happen upon that cure?

I have had several problems that were caused by the lack of Magnesium and the more I researched how to get more into my system, I realized that the Epsom Salt baths might help me and indeed they did. I put 2 cups of the salt in my bath and soak for about 20 min. while reading a good book. This relaxes me and I am ready for whatever the day requires. When I started, I took 3 such baths a week. Then reduced it to 2 and then 1 at least a week. I try to take 2 per week as I do love my bath time.

My head aches are caused by muscle tension. But I guess that could be from Magnesium too. I will see about getting some and see if it helps me out. It typically starts in my trapezius and goes up my neck. That of course starts the pain searing right through my brain.

If you don't like baths, you can make a foot soak with 1 cup of Epsom Salt in comfortable warm/hot water and soak for 1/2 hr. The Magnesium is absorbed into the skin and goes to the places it is needed most. Or you can get Magnesium Oil, which is not really oil, and rub it into the skin where you are experiencing muscle pain or spasms. Either way you are increasing the magnesium in your system.

Not sure if it would help but when I used to have really bad muscle spasms I would get prim rose oil capsules, poke a hole in them with a needle, and rub the capsule over the area that hurt. (Never near my heart, throat, eyes, etc.) But it did seem to help some. I was told you can take the capsules by mouth, you might look into that if it would help. :) Hope you are feeling better soon.

I feel better today but still battled muscle tension in my neck. It really puts a damper on activity. I am really tired from it now. Maybe need a nap. I may try to lay down for a bit. Sure does take a lot out of me when I get a bad one. My massage therapist says I have one of the highest pain tolerances she has ever seen. She says that other guys have asked her to stop doing things she does to me because they can't take the pain. I walk right through it. She also says one of my head aches would put someone else in the hospital. She has seen me in a head ache and can't believe the pain I tolerate.
