Homeschooled Children and State Exams

Recommended Posts

Would any off you let your child sit state exams in order to gain qualifications? Here (Ireland ) we are able to allow our children to do this even if they are home schooled...I'm not meaning degrees etc but rather exams that would be recognised in the work place

Hi Sister Annie,

In the JW Broadcasting (JAN) program Brother Morris of the Governing Body

spoke heavily on the issue of "Higher Education".

But he and also in an interview with 1 of the lawyers from the legal department,

Brother Bromley spoke of how it is better to help our children try

and get a technical trade for 1 or 2 years if that seems necessary,

so if the "Exams" the young brothers/sisters

can take add to their resume and help them to not have to go

to a Unversity but helps them either in getting a good job or to enter into a technical trade,

then it sounds reasonable.

Here is a link to some information from that JAN program.

I hope this helps :)

Where we live you can home school through the school system. If you choose this method, testing is supplied. However, if you "independently" home school, you are "required" to have your children tested by a certified examiner before they can be moved on to a higher grade.

In a lot of states the law allows testing or  having a certified teacher of that state evaluate your child and or your childs work. Then that teacher on formal paper  affirms that your child is progressing to their ability. If you check out some homeschool sites  many teachers will let you know that they provide this service and are usually very homeschool friendly. Their may even be a teacher that is a witness in the area that would be willing to do this (and they don't have to be a teacher for the grade your child is in). Each state is different, some states have very relaxed requirements, some don't. Some superintendents won't even let you know that there are more options. You  must look up the laws in your state and print them out and be aware that sometimes the superintendent of schools doesn't even know the law. A lot of times they think they have to be much more involved until you let them know that you know the law.

Peace...... Love...... &....... Paradise......
