This brother needs more 'fire in his belly'; he is putting me to sleep. We surely expect a much higher standard of Public Speaking for these men who enjoy great status and privilege inside the Organization.

I see from your profile that you are an old timer and are probably use to a little more 'fire', it's time for us old guys to just sit back and enjoy the meal without critiquing the cooks.  :D

If I may chime in......We were priviledged to hear brother David Schafer in Fort Worth last year at the Inernational Convention and he was very vibrant , animated and everyone was saying how they could listen to him  all day.     He does deliver different subject material in different manners.      At that convention in 2014 he was so animated he was likened to by some as a Baptist preacher.   LOL

Have a great day brothers..... Can't stay on we are headed to the site of our Regional Convention starting tomorrow in Denton, Texas.

We are privileged to be in the Assembly Hall in a small community named Krum, Texas.

I agree with you, us old guys should just watch the daisies grow, be seen and not heard and leave it all to the young folk.

I really like Bro Schaffer, he is one of my favorite speakers. His voice mannerism is in crescendos so you are hanging on every word.

i too love listening to and learning from br Schafer

a relaxed and confident speaker, excellent sense stress & modulation

and his good use of pausing make him one of my favorite helpers to the GB

      ... "gifts in men"

At that time those who fear Jehovah spoke with one another, each one with his companion,

and Jehovah kept paying attention and listening..." ~ Malachi 3:16

I loved listening to brother Schafer. As I think of how much we love the GB, especially with the JW programs, I am just tickled that he is a helper. One of those taking the visible lead as this system goes down. He gets your attention, and, well listening to him is a treat for me.

I want to age without sharp corners, and have an obedient heart!

Several years ago my mother was in the hospital during the Memorial so my wife and I spent the evening with her and listened to the Memorial, by phone, from her local congregation. We found out later that Bro Schafer delivered the Memorial talk at our Assembly Hall. I have been searching for a recording of his talk, we were happy to be with my mom but sad that we missed his talk.

Brother Schafer came along with Brother Splane to the Special Convention we had in 2012 and the three talks that Brother Schafer spoke were really nurturing, spiritually edifying and very well proffered.

When not appreciate the way to a speaker talk, we have to remember the School Guidebook, in Chapter 5, paragraph 10, which says:

"Another aid to getting the important points the speaker has to offer is to listen with the right motive. It is not our objective to listen with a view to criticizing the speaker's materials and delivery .... [We should focus] on whatever useful information the speaker has to offer."

I enjoyed his talk on Phil.4:6   I usually enjoy the manner of frankness from the talks Bro. Morris gives but Bro. Schafer came across in a very non-confrontational manner as this scriptural council can be a "hard pill" to swallow some , myself included!  All of these Bothers have unique personalities and deliver the information accordingly.  We can be sure though that they are handling the word aright! :)

" You can't move forward looking back!"  (Luke 9:62)  Jesus said to him: “No man who has put his hand to a plow and looks at the things behind is well-suited for the Kingdom of God"
