A cool fable

There is a folk story in the Ruthenian (Carpatho-Rusyn) tradition as to how the philtrum was created. When Adam and Eve were being evicted from the Garden of Eden by the angel of God, they turned around to take one last look at what they had lost and the "fiery index finger of God" reached out and touched Adam above the lip to silence him so that he couldn't tell anyone of the wondrous garden where they had lived. But for everyone being born of Adam and his descendents, seeing this indentation on another persons face is a reminder that mankind once had lived in the Garden of Eden but is unable to explain it.
