A Play about Hellfire

Recommended Posts

I just found out about a play that is becoming somewhat popular, about a church whose pastor starts to teach that the hellfire doctrine isn't real, but originally came from a word that referred to a garbage dump.

I wonder where they got that from......?

(not promoting the play, but it seems  interesting that this subject matter is coming out now)

People have noted disparities in the churches teaching for centuries now and even without contact with the brothers. Even Satan knows the truth. But what has he done with it.

Hartley

It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step :- Jer10:23.

Not a day goes by wherein the truth of this scripture is not reaffirmed

If people would just think a little. Correct me if I am wrong but the immortal soul doctrine would make Jesus' sacrifice of little value. Before Jesus came to Earth good people went to heaven and bad people went to a place of torment. After Jesus sacrifice things would not change much except now you have to put faith in Jesus. By that reasoning the ransom sacrifice would mean that being good was no longer enough. The effect of such a sacrifice would be to condemn more people to torment.

Of course we know that all of that is not true.

You are assuming they understand the significance of the ransom.

Actually I am thinking only that the immortal soul teaching negates the ransom sarifice. It does not matter if they understand the significance or not.

The same is true of the teaching of evolution whether evolutionists understand the significance of the ransom or not.

Since God cannot die the teaching of the trinity also es against the ransom sacrifice. How could God die for our sins?
