Yes, it's being felt even in Australia.  It was only a matter of time, as we have a multicultural population so the nastier elements of any culture can easily blend in and then break out when called.  Though, most of the suspects were in their early 20's and born here - so called "home-grown" radicals.  Please take care around the silly season, as terrorist are using this time with the larger crowds to try to inflict their demented carnage.

 

Commissioner Ashton said he believed the threat had been "neutralised" and there would be an increased police presence over the Christmas period, including for the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

"We believe we have neutralised that threat, I think it's been dealt with," he said.

Australian authorities have foiled a “very substantial terrorist plot”, arresting a number of suspects who allegedly plotted a “multi-mode attack” involving guns and improvised explosives in central Melbourne over the Christmas holidays.

 

Seven people were detained following overnight raids by Victoria Police, the Australian Federal Police and Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) on Friday. Five people are still in custody and are answering questions about the alleged terrorist plot.
