That "Ah-hah!" Moment

Recommended Posts

While reading about Antarctica, I found some interesting info on Admiral Richard E. Byrd.

While reading about Admiral Byrd, I came upon this, beautifully expressed, "Ah-hah!" moment:

Quote

Before his death in 1957 at age 68, he (Admiral Byrd) would lead four more Antarctic expeditions.

But these journeys, under the auspices of the U.S. government, lacked the wonder of his private expeditions.

He would recall for audiences how during this time spent alone on the ice he had come close to attaining transcendent insights: "And here I was, near the axis of the world, in the darkness where the stars make a circle in the sky. At that moment the conviction came to me that the harmony and rhythm were too perfect to be a symbol of blind chance or an accidental offshoot of the cosmic process; and I knew that a Beneficent Intelligence pervaded the whole. It was a feeling that transcended reason; that went to the heart of a man's despair and found it groundless."

Quote

"...so that they would seek God, if they might grope for him and really find him,

although, in fact, he is not far off from each one of us." --Acts 17:27

I thought it would be neat if others had ever been reading and had suddenly come across similar "Ah-hah!" moments, that they could share them here.yes.gif

Du_uh.gifForgot to post the URL for the article about Admiral Byrd:  http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/ice/peopleevents/pandeAMEX86.html

That's a "Du-uh!" moment.^_^

So, what is the conversion factor for that?

Is it one to one?...Does one  'ah-hah' straight up cancel  a  'du-uh'

We always figured it to be a 10 to 1 ratio, as in one  'aw, crap'  will cancel out 10  'attaboys'...

I have hope for a better factor, I hope to live long enough. ..

(Nice story about the Admiral,  thanks)
