A very small number of eggs contaminated with a toxic insecticide reached the UK earlier this year.

Some of the eggs, which originated from the Netherlands, were also found in France, the country's agricultural ministry said.

The UK's Food Standards Agency say the risk to the public is very low.

The agency is "urgently investigating" the issue, but to the best of their knowledge, the affected products are no longer on shelves.

It says there is no need for people in Britain to avoid eating eggs and any potential exposure is unlikely to harm.

It isn't so much the eggs, Europe right now or for the past several weeks has been having a major heat wave, animals are dying and a couple of people spread out.  The country folks have no air conditioning in their homes, nor do some city dwellers as well.   So if those eggs and the hens are sickly and dying, no way, I would want to eat an egg in  Europe.    Matter of fact, no poultry either.  Or pork, meat (like roasted rabbit) and or steak.  The bovine's over in some parts are dying due to no water and the heat wave.   In South Korea  is also having its worst summer in decades.  Their animals for consumption thousands have died due to heat wave as well as several people, mostly elderly who live and work in the fields of their farms.
