If all goes as expected at the World Series Friday, the crowd will stand for the anthem -- the baseball anthem. Everyone knows the seventh-inning stretch song, but there is a story behind it -- a love story. Dean Reynolds reports.

I always find it a bit amusing when someone who wasn't even born at the time something happens tries to explain why something was done or how it was done when they are viewing it from a "modern" standpoint.

Here is a song from 1908 being explained by a woman who did not have parents or perhaps even grandparents who lived in 1908. She indicates it was about empowering women. However, the writer of the song indicated that the inspiration of the song was a sign in a subway that said "Baseball Today - Polo Grounds". Even though he had never been to a ball game, he wrote a lyrics and another man wrote the catchy tune. Interestingly, the man who wrote the lyrics did not attend a ballgame for another 32 years after writing the song. The mad who wrote the tune had also never been to a game and it took him 20 years to finally go to one.

It reminds me of some of the people who design stuff they claim is from the 50's or 60's and it is not. I know first hand but they would tell me I am wrong - even though they were born in this century.
