SAN ANTONIO -- Fire crews had to battle a fire at a Northwest Side apartment complex.

Firefighters were called to the The Crossing apartments on the 1400 block of Babcock Road around 9:45 a.m. Saturday.

The San Antonio Fire Department's Active Fires website shows 19 units were been sent to the scene.

Multiple people we spoke with from inside the apartment, said a Jehovah's witness knocked on apartment doors, alerting them of the fire.

"By the time I got outside, the flames were already on the roof," said Tim Rodriguez who lives at the apartment. "They were already coming out the door."

The fire crews had the fire knocked out by around 10:30 a.m. but were still working one some hot spots.

Firefighters said eight apartments were impacted by the fire and smoke. However, no one was injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

"I'm glad they came and knocked on my door this morning," said Rodriguez. "They pretty much saved my life."

Don't give up .. it's just around the corner.
