A lot of people  I know didn’t care for this song....I always liked it a lot. 

About 2:30 minutes into it the tune changes ....I think that part is especially a beautiful melody.

Its actually based on real events and related in the writers own metaphorical way.

It’s a tongue in cheek song but its about a failed engagement and the woman ends up marrying another man and the wedding is in the park...McArthur Park.

I think it end up raining  on their wedding.
