her defense:  “profanity and discussions regarding her own sex life and the sex lives of her students in the classroom do not constitute First Amendment protected speech, are not matters of public concern.......”

I am glad she lost her case. Many of us were/are forced to tolerate degrading language, and more, while working in school systems. In one case, (as a school administrator,) I wrote that the use of the F-bomb by staff was creating a hostile environment, for me. At the time, it was stated as protocol in the sexual harassment law that one had to inform people that their words or actions were unacceptable.  Another administrator made my life miserable and thought I was too thin-skinned and must be unhappy with my job. Fact was, I liked my job, but did not want to have to listen to vulgarity at my place of employment and did not think it reflected professional speech to use such language around our middle to high school students.  I got a glowing reference letter from the CEO and moved on. Now, I am glad to be retired.

I don't mean to make light of this issue and this individual was clearly in the wrong!  But,  specific words/wording in the articles' third paragraph (at the end) had me laughing for a good 5 minutes. (It has been years since I laughed so much.)

Nothing much is usually funny when I've been up half the night dealing with insomnia, but this is. LOL!!

Do you mean where Buchanan stated her inclusion of vulgarity and details of her own sex life were part of her overall strategy to teach material for elementary students?  Unfortunately, some professionals vomit that drivel like they are discovering the formula of integrated relativity.
