Baby shower?

so it depends....

if you have ever been to sole male at a gathering - even the father - it is a bit trying... even awkward --- so in the smallish settings - we tend to help build bonds within our male/female groups

 

but I did mention the larger function - where perhaps the entire congregation is invited -- those tend to be very enjoyable also - depends on what the host or family can arrange

 

there is nothing wrong with taking a group of boys or girls out to do something independent of the opposite sex....the problem would be if this became the norm and there was never an intermingling

 

here we have Dodge ball on mondays 25-30 teens show up and then Ultimate frisbee on Fridays where 50-75 teens show up to play....thats our norm.....but occcasionally 5-10 of the guys will go to a movie together

Haha, we don't have that game in the UK. I've heard stories that it's scary or painful to children in schools over there?

I use to love dodgeball.  Last year the company I work for had a corporate dodgeball game.  I loved it.  Mind you, I am not as agile as I use to be and was pegged a few times more than I remember.

at first the teens were leery of an adult playing - they even apologized when the hit me with the ball

 

so the following week I started with a miny announcement

 

if you are cranky - had a bad day - are mad at your parents -- anything --- you have my full permission to take out all your angst on me with the dodgeball

no worries - as many times as you want

they took me at my word and when i was the only one left - they all ganged up and 7 of them targeted me simultaneously 

even my own offspring......

they loved it and always ask me to come back -

--- once i heal i will be back.....just kidding

 

it makes me happy to see them all get along with fellow bros and sis - it has definitely strengthened a few and helped a few more who were wandering aimlessly

you must give them an outlet and recreation
