Thanks for the reminder. I remember hearing and reading about this before, but had completely forgotten about it. We certainly do need to fill them up about halfway LOL, before we add some good compost.

One of the additional benefits of hugerculture is that both sides of decomposition is achieved, bacterial through the kitchen and garden waste and fungicidal through the tree debris you salvidge. The tree matter can also soak up excess water and release later on. All these little methods mimicking the systems Jehovah put in place from the beginning.

Just spent a couple of hours with my daughter and 2 granddaughters assembling this monstrosity—I don't think my daughter realized the dimensions when she ordered TWO of them (4'x8'x4'h).  The height is great, but it's going to take a dump truck-load of compost to fill them and still have to assemble the second one (collective groan!)  Instructions were practically non-existent, just a parts list and a couple of tiny diagrams you could hardly make out.

Another issue you'll face is compaction. The volume will have dropped by upwards of a third by next year so you may need another dump of compost
