Convention Gift Ideas

Oour congregation are busy coming up with ideas for us to make little gifts to give to the delegates at our International Convention this summer... I have a few ideas but would welcome some imput ??

Here in the US some states (not mine though) were invited to send delegates to special conventions that were being held which would include time a few days before and after to visit with local brothers. The letter didn't say so but these are considered international conventions apparently.

When we went to Chile - they gave us book markers with scriptural references and contact info. It was wonderful. I am still in touch with a few. The same when we went to the one in California a few years ago. If you make it something people (JWs) will us - like a book mark - it will be kept. I remember getting little plastic magnets of the country or sayings, but that just isn't something that I kept.

I agree with Jerry, something simple like a book marker and preferably made in Ireland by the brothers or sisters. Anything hand made by the brother's and/or sister's would be very special.

Our congregation had a bookmark making party.

We had tables set up. Flowers, Food and fun.

The book markers were made from strips of colored paper. You then added anything Artistic. Pictures, Stickers, Drawings, the Years text, The convention Year.

A favorite Scripture, then any personal contact information.

Then someone sealed each one with a plastic machine. We added ribbons, strings, shiny stuff, to tie them off.

With everyone being so different, the variety was really neat to see.

Hi Inge!! Yes in Ireland this year we are having an international convention, i'm not sure where else these are being held, but we have delegates from America, UK and Germany - however the missionaries are not coming home for the convention. It is being held in a convention centre in a hotel in Dublin.

All the ideas sound brilliant - i like the idea of the bookmark making party, i may have suggest that (we're always up for a party ) I like the idea of a bookmark with a picture of the congregation and the hall and maybe a nice photo from the area, and then space on the back to write your contact details. hhmmmm i can see us having fun with this
