Churches use the term elder too?

Recommended Posts

Someone brought in their laptop to be fixed and the desktop files had things named "presiding elder." I thought it was a witness for a minute, but the other docs look like church docs.

So other religions use the term? I thought they used pastor?

Elder as used in many churches are lower than a pastor or minister - sometime they do a services something like our ministerial servants, so

minister can do his thing. A body of elders can replace their minister.

Consciousness, that annoying time between naps!

Exclusive Bretheren here in NZ also use 'elder' in fact they are structured a little like us - with an Elder body and yes, this is probably because of the structure and terms in the scriptures.  So sometimes they get some things right ... shame the rest is diluted with scriptural untruths, well actually, no it's not a shame ...  the True Religion needs to stand alone.
