How many hours do you work per week?

Recommended Posts

I work for like 30-35 hours per week.. But irregularly...Sometimes I take a whole day off.

Many brothers end up working full time after they marry.

How many hours do you work per week and are you satisfied with your line of work? (if you can, please tell us what your job is related to)

I have done a variety of types of work before and after I got married.

When I first got out of HS I was able to reg pioneer ... to support this I washed windows until that work fell apart and then worked in a pizza place. I worked for the pizza place for nearly 15 years - sometimes full time and sometimes irregularly. During that time I also worked in mobile homes with another brother.

I moved onto hanging wallpaper and did that for many years as a self-employed work. My hours varied according to the work. When that type of work began dying off, I started cleaning and installing carpet. I also installed vinyl flooring. I did this for over 15 years but my body started making that work too difficult. I changed to installing and repairing irrigation with a friend (brother) I know who has his own company doing this.

I am now semi-retired and still do irrigation repair and maintenance for a company that owns rental properties.

Interspersed in those occupations I also had limited work selling beepers/pagers (before cell phones), insurance, auto parts - and I did some computer programming in the early 1980's.

During the years my hours have been different. Most of the time it was full time work (40-60 hours a week).

Not sure if I would use the word "satisfied" with my lines of work - but, it paid the bills. The various types of work also allowed me to be used by the quick build/RB/LDC arrangement ... while being mostly self-employed gave me the freedom to schedule my work around theocratic building projects as well as assemblies and conventions.

Looking back - if I had it all to do over again would I do it the same ... I don't know. I can think of types of work I would rather have done 0 but, would those types of work allowed me to be as active with the organization as I have been and how would other types of work have affected my family ... since I can't really answer those questions - I will just say that Jehovah blessed me with always having something to do to make a living and stay in the Truth.

What type of work do you do?

How long have you been doing it?

I average 55-60 hours per week. By trade I'm a crane operator. ( The big tall ones you see on a sky scraper )
I'm going to ask to be used as a relief operator after this job I'm on is complete. When you are assigned your own crane you are in that crane sometimes 18 hours a day. So I just want relief work, ( if an operator needs a day or two off, or goes on vacation I'm the fill in operator)
