Psalms 113: 6,7 from study bible

He stoops down to look on heaven and earth,7 Raising the lowly from the dust. He lifts up the poor from the ash heap * (or possibly garbage dump)

Yes,  our great loving God Jehovah picks out the valuable things from even the worst places in the world because he sees their value and they are still precious to him.

Even though we are living in difficult times and we may not feel much more than a lump of coal.

But what happens when a lump of coal goes through pressures and life changing circumstances?  Yes the saying is true, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Yes,  It makes you a stronger person when you go through pressures and changes in life.  And you can actually transform yourself into something more beautiful, especially in Jehovah's eyes.

Do you view yourself as a lump of coal or as a beautiful diamond?

Did you know that when you look at a diamond under a microscope, you will see scratches and cracks and chips and  imperfections? Does that make it less valuable?  Would you throw it away because it's not perfect? No!, of course not.  But you may be saying to yourself , well, I'm nothing like a diamond!.  We may not feel like a beautiful  perfect diamond on this side of Jehovah's kingdom but we may still just be a diamond in the rough. Even a diamond in the rough is very very precious and valuable because we know and Jehovah knows what a rough diamond is capable of becoming in the right hands. We know when we submit ourselves to Jehovah's training and molding he will make our eyes shine beautifully and transform us into  a very precious diamond under his loving care.

Very true brother.  In order for a rough diamond to reach its full potential it will undergo a cutting and polishing process during which, the diamond will lose up to 50% of its original rough carat weight on average. The trade off? A diamond cut to perfect proportion and symmetry will display the ultimate combination of fire, brilliance and scintillation. Same with us, when we became Christians, we also undergo "polishing process" wherein we sacrifice many things to serve our God, Jehovah. But all our sacrifices will be worth it, because Jehovah will mold and transform us into a very brilliant diamond.
