We do have a particular monopoly in terms of vicious lies being spread about us. That's because Satan, the father of the lie, hates us most.

I'm not saying you should blindly believe anything that an ex-member of a religion tells you. But I think it's wrong to compare the malicious accounts of ex-Witnesses to

- stories of Church sex-abuse cover-ups

- stories of fraudulent abuse of the tax exemptation status of churches

- ex-Muslim ("apostates") demanding equality for women and denouncing Mohammed as a man of violence

- science-fiction stories about alien overlord Xemu disposing of alien souls on a volcano on Earth

It simply isn't the same because those religions and religious institutions are bad.

(On second thought, never mind).

I'm always really skeptical of claims of former members-turned-"whistleblower" of any religion. Most times, these people don't hesitate to lie to justify themselves, or they try to use the government as their puppets.

These people just don't like how religions here are tax exempt. They just want to see them bankrupted by the government.

I am always skeptical of "ex"s also!

Satan is the Father of the Lie and the world is certainly following him.

Plan ahead as if Armageddon will not come in your lifetime, but lead your life as if it will come tomorrow (w 2004 Dec. 1 page 29)

Yes. he's the father of the lie.

Now let's see what the Bible says about Babylon the Great

Quote

The woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and she was adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, and she had in her hand a golden cup that was full of disgusting things and the unclean things of her sexual immorality. On her forehead was written a name, a mystery: “Babylon the Great, the mother of the prostitutes and of the disgusting things of the earth.” And I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the holy ones and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesu

[...]

and the merchants of the earth became rich owing to the power of her shameless luxury.”

Now let's see what the Bible says avbout "ex's"

Quote

And I heard another voice out of heaven say: “Get out of her, my people, if you do not want to share with her in her sins, and if you do not want to receive part of her plagues

Sounds legit to me.

I, for one, prefer "ex's" to the religious institutions. The latter are not victims in my eyes.

Quote

To the extent that she glorified herself and lived in shameless luxury, to that extent give her torment and mourning.

I'm down with that.
