Anyone know a way to Chromecast from the App?

A thought, with the new update, and the ability to share links, that maybe it could work. Not so far, at least not for me.

 

Anyone know an app to 'share' to that could let me play a video/song from my app?

Are you using a dongle on your TV? I haven't been successful in using just th smart TV features without the Chromecast dongle.

With both Android and TV accessing the same wifi, the following should work.

 

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Settings app .

Tap Connected devices Cast. Select your Chromecast device.

Your Android screen will now show on your Chromecast device. ...

When you're done, tap Settings Connected devices Cast Select your Chromecast device.

 

I have found it kind of iffy at times, which I assume I am doing something wrong as I seldom use it.

If I understand correctly, he wants to open stuff on a TV Chromecast via JW Library's share feature on his phone. Unfortunately, it's not designed to do that yet as far as I can tell.

Chromecast is a media streamer that uses apps on a local network device as a remote. Unlike devices like a Roku, Fire Stick or Android Box, it pulls everything over the internet through chrome browser/cloud services rather than running or storing the apps on its own hardware. JW.org is listed among the official Chromecast apps, however, the 'Android' link is dead and the Chrome link goes to tv.jw.org which redirects to JW.org. https://store.google.com/product/chromecast_apps If you're running a song or video from JW.org in a Chrome browser on your Android device, it should have an option to cast it to your Chromecast somewhere.

Personally, I would find all of that a hassle and rather mirror my Android device directly to my TV. I know all of the major smart TV devices have that functionality.
