Vegemite :D For light relief only!

Recommended Posts

There was a discussion on the radio yesterday about Tom Hanks' Twitter/Insta pic of him about to eat some Vegemite on toast.

He appeared not to have any butter on the toast.  I have seen this many times when when you guys up there eat our national spread on toast.

Now I know what you guys up there in the Northern climes think of Vegemite but I think that the whole issue of you hating it is because, for some reason, you don't use butter with it.

If you are going to eat Vegemite on toast you MUST spread butter first.

Remember, I am a Pom and it did take me a short while to adjust from Marmite but Vegemite on toast with a slather of real butter is delicious.

😁😁😁

Don't give up .. it's just around the corner.

POM a term used in Australia and New Zealand to refer to a Briton, esp. one who is a recent immigrant

...but sometimes it is merely a term of affectionate abuse.

Being from a former British colony, I grew up eating Bovril and Marmite. Ma would let me eat it with rice gruel/congee. My comfort food when convalescing. Now I eat toast with Vegemite. Thanks for that very important tip. Now I can really enjoy my toast

Buying bread from a man in Brussels
He was six foot tall and full of muscle
I said... Do you speak-a my language?
He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich

I come from a land down under
Where beer does flow and men chunder

I always cringe when I see celebrities etc eating a huge chunk of it. 😖😖😖  I went to a Mariah Carey concert once and she ate a whole teaspoon by itself and then started saying how disgusting it was! 😂😂😂

I literally put the tiniest scraping, with a bunch of butter, on my toast.

Me having a discussion in Paradise about GT.

Moses: So Greg how was GT

Greg: Fine ..excluding one thing....:whistling:

Moses: What thing?

Greg: We have experienced great food shortages

Moses: Surly Jehovah provided for you

Greg: You're right.... but it was vegemite on crackers... without butter :facepalmpo2:(We survived LOL :lol1:)

Man was created as an intelligent creature with the desire to explore and understand :)

Yes get it right people! This much maligned delicacy is a delight to many.

IF you are going to eat it - use it sparingly either on hot toast and butter - or on thin cold crunchy toast with butter.

Mind you vegemite, cheese and onion scones are to die for too.

I'm a vegemite girl!

Moses: So Greg how was GT

A few minutes later.

Moses quickly rushes to his freezer to retrieve his home made manna. Fished out his freshly made butter from the churn and borrowed Greg's jar of Vegemite.

Moses' Verdict : Taste as good as the original. If only he could find a wilderness to eat it in. And a crowd of 1 million +

real simple just make a scone mix then roll it out flat spread vegemite thinly all over the top add chopped onion and grated cheese. Roll them up and cut them like you would sausage rolls and eat with butter when cooked. Like a cinnamon bun but savoury.
