Accurate Knowledge in All things ...

Recommended Posts

In these uncertain times ... normal isn't the normal we knew ... and isn't likely to be so again. We are marching forward in time ... and as we prepare primarily spiritually, knowing our salvation is from Jehovah ... a phrase keeps coming up in my mind .. "When we have done all we can, it is then that Jehovah steps in" - and while the initial application is in spiritual matters - this could apply in a variety of other aspects of our lives.

We all have our ideas on how the future is going to unfold, there are those ideas that are certain based in scriptpure and there are those ideas that we fill the gaps inbetween with - including the timing and length of each event. While our speculations vary as to knowledge and reasoning - It would be prudent though - to hope for the quickest, but prepare for the longest and this is why I've started this thread ... as gaining knowledge now is the key for things that we nay need urgently or at a time when maybe when we don't have the resources we do today like the internet, access to public libraries or even each other to bounce ideas off.

So, on subjects as important as food preparation on a budget, simple carpentry, gardening, emergency DIY on our homes  or  even sewing/mending, how to keep chooks, or the odd sheep or cattle if your property can take it. What about generators? Which is the best and quietest? How can we start a fire from literally nothing or the things we have around us already? How to use a compass or how to read maps? Knowledge of all these subjects would be beneficial in the New System, but also perhaps during the GT ... and gaining this knowledge now I think is very wise - accurate knowledge that is ... and of course, that's where Youtube links, Books, and other resources come  in to play. All knowledge that will help us and others.

Please share your knowledge on such things and also share your resources so we can choose the most effective way of learning - youtube videos are invaluable when it comes to things like gardening within the seasons and the fruit/veges common to your area. the use of power tools or without power ordinary tools like a simple axe? How do we keep it sharp? How do we use it utilizing energy. What is the best wood to burn efficiently if we need to?

A good first aid book? We may have our go bags or emergency kits sorted - but do we know how to apply a good bandage or put someone into the recovery position? What has helped you to learn to do what you have learnt?

I'll start it off with a youtube video that many of you may have seen already - how to start a fire using lint from your dryer (Don't throw it out put it in a bag for future use if we need to).

A simple way to get a "room full" of light. There are many types of lights that can give bright light but many of them consume a number of batteries at the same time because they need several batteries to produce the light.

If you have a fairly bright LED flashlight that only needs one AA or AAA battery and a see-thru plastic gallon jug you can make a fairly bright "lamp" Make sure the jug is clean and fill with water. Place the flashlight on the open top with the light shining down into the jug. The entire jug will glow with light.

Here is a video that shows how it works ... except he places the light on the side of the jug. It casts much more light if it shines down from the top - of course, you have to remove the top to shine the light down,

If you want to brush up (or learn) all sorts of practical survival techniques - Creek Stewart has some very good videos
