External hard-drive failure

I have 2 external hard-drives that would not be recognised, or would not detect power (no light flashing on hard-drive) when connected to PC

Thinking that they permanently failed, I left them alone for 2-3 years. 

Today I took them apart and removed bare drives from cases, then connected to another external case and BANG! they both work! 

Recovered some old photos, happy. 

 

Please store your files on 2 different hard-drives, just in case.

This is very good advice. Store your valuable data in at least two devices and then keep them in separate places. Like two harddisks, or a hardisk and an  online copy cloud. And never trust pendrives, they break very easily and without warning.
