Coast Guard rescue

Many people are unaware that my area, Astoria, Oregon/Ilwaco, Washington, is the main training ground for the Coast Guard. Ours is the most dangerous waters of the world, with Newport, Oregon right up there as the worst too. 

As they were running some exercises they got a rescue call. I just thought this was a good article to post to inform others what happens here, around Cape Disappointment and the viscous mouth of the Columbia, as well as serious undertow and strong currents. Many people die in our waters, underestimating it.
