You cannot be partaking of “the table of Jehovah” and the table of demons.—1 Cor. 10:21.

 

Once we swallow food, automatic processes take over and the nutrients in the food eventually become part of our bodies. A good diet can make us healthier; a poor diet will make us unhealthy. The results may not become evident overnight, but they will become evident in time. Similarly, when we choose our entertainment, we have control over what we put into our mind. After that, automatic processes take over and our mind and heart are affected. Good entertainment can refresh us; unwholesome entertainment will harm us. (Jas. 1:14, 15) The effects of bad entertainment may not be immediately evident, but they will eventually become obvious. That is why the Bible warns us: “Whatever a person is sowing, this he will also reap; because the one sowing with a view to his flesh will reap corruption from his flesh.” (Gal. 6:7, 8) How important it is for us to reject all entertainment that promotes things that Jehovah hates!—Ps. 97:10. w19.10 30 ¶12-14

fits in with Sundays WT as well about Good Association and not being among ones who 'live for today' you can't watch unhealthy things or mix with unhealthy people .

 

We don't just 'dislike' the things Jehovah hates we have to HATE it keep clear of it totally .

There are bad entertainment that can affect our mind and heart. We must be wary when using Internet, other forms of media or the types of association.

Jehovah requires our exclusive devotion. Good entertainment refreshes us, unwholesome entertainment will harm us, how important for us to reject things Jehovah hates. Rather we need to participate in activities that promotes the flow of Jehovah’s spirit.

This text ties in with yesterdays in how the faithful slaves keeps helping us with reminders of what Jehovah requires of us. 

This world keeps pulling us down, tripping us up and slapping us and we may not readily see it.  What we feed our mind also affects our heart. The heart is desperate who can know it says Jehovah. The more good things we feed our heart the more good things it craves. But the opposite is also true, the more bad things we feed our heart, the more bad things it craves.  The other trap is that Satan makes his table look so appealing and alluring and whispers "come on , try it, just a little taste...it won't kill you..."

This really makes me think.  Do you all listen to just Kingdom music?  I love music and enjoy our original songs and Kingdom music a lot.  At the same time, I occasionally listen to other music and am concerned as to whether or not Jehovah would approve.

I know exactly what you mean and we have a great thread here on the forum about music that is easy to listen to without hurting your conscience... it can be so tough these days I don't know about you but the worse ones always have the catchiest tunes!!

 

If I'm a bit confused on it I also ask myself if Jesus walked into the room, would I turn it down or off 😉
