Equinox Auroras

A G2 Solar wind storm hit the northern tier states of the United States.

This was taken in Minnesota this morning.

 

The storm is ongoing and may last for the entire weekend.

 

The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is so far north, it is frequently not even shown on maps of the U.S..

 

I plan to go out looking tonight.

There has been some outstanding pictures on the internet. All kinds of purples. One day, I plan on seeing them in person! I hope!

I hope you do get to see them in person, Bea, because still photos don't capture the fluid motion

of the lights.  The lights really do appear to be performing some sort of graceful dance across the 

night sky.

Oh I I know. It almost gives me chills thinking about it. When things start happening in the sky, during the GT, I may pass out, from the sheer joy of it. 
My kids still talk about the big lightening and thunder storm, and I took them for a walk! We loved it. Not too bright. I know! 
If you catch them, please think of me. What a wonderful thing to anticipate.
