Northumbria Healthcare among first NHS Trusts to get face mask recycling machine

 

 

With mask-wearing still vital across the NHS, Northumbria Healthcare has brought in a new recycling machine to turn used plastic face coverings into chairs or bins.

The new machine, installed at the Trust's manufacturing hub in Seaton Delaval, melts down the masks into plastic blocks, which can then be used to make new items.

Dedicated bins to collect masks can now be found around hospitals such as NSEC in Cramlington and North Tyneside General.
