Wednesday, November 24

With humility consider others superior to you.—Phil. 2:3.

On one occasion, Jehovah took away some of his holy spirit from Moses and gave it to a group of Israelite elders who were standing near the tent of meeting. Shortly thereafter, Moses heard that two elders who had not gone out to the tent of meeting had also received holy spirit and had begun to behave as prophets. How did he react when Joshua asked him to restrain the two elders? Moses did not become envious of the attention these two men were getting from Jehovah. Instead, he humbly rejoiced with them in their privilege. (Num. 11:24-29) What lesson can we learn from Moses? If you are an elder, have you ever been asked to train someone else to care for a privilege in the congregation that you have and truly love? If you are humble like Moses, you will not feel threatened if you are asked to train another brother so that, in time, he will be able to handle this privilege. Instead, you will be happy to help your brother. w20.02 15 ¶9; 17 ¶10-11

You can't walk with God while holding hands with the Devil.

As sisters how do we imitate the humility of Moses? If we are pioneers or having any privileges of service or we’ve been serving Jehovah for a long time we strive to be modest about those privileges & rejoice when others enters the door into kingdom service.

# We are careful not to be conceited & too confident in the congregation.
# Instead of thinking that we know more than the Elders we respect these appointed men & humbly follow their direction.
# We avoid comparing them & favoring one elder over another. By doing that we stay close to Jehovah & enjoy peace with our fellow Christians.

The Elders in Moses day were given special help. Jehovah's Holy Spirit. I wish his holy spirit would give me what I don't posses, but I see everyone else have it.  Those of us with limitations struggle through life day after day. Knowing our own limitations will help us keep things in perspective in our own life. We may not have certain abilities other people have, and that's ok. It doesn't mean we are less of a person or not useful to Jehovah. With patience and contentment we must be satisfied with whatever we can do, even if it feels like the widows two small coins.

The one showing favor to the lowly is lending to Jehovah

It's interesting that Joshua had the wrong viewpoint of the situation but that didn't keep him from being used by Jehovah.

Num 11:28 Then Joshua the son of Nun, the minister of Moses from his youth, responded and said: “My lord Moses, restrain them!”
