My mama called her flip flops "thongs", too, not realizing what they are in women's panties now. A few years back, she was about 80, she asked one of her grandsons to pick her up a new pair of thongs at the store, because hers were worn out.

Dead silence. But you should have seen the look on his face!!!!! To this day, they laugh about grandma wearing her thongs....
