The Drunk Monkey Tavern may seem like an odd place to attend church, but the congregants don't think so. :lol1:

How interesting would our meetings be if we had them in a bar????? Leslie, what do you think????

I saw some of them "Bikers for Christ" in Panama City Beach for the bikers weekend. Crazy.

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

Trottigy how did you capture that picture from the video.

I just paused the video at that spot and did a screen capture. Pasted the capture in MSPaint and cropped out the part I wanted.

Leslie - thanks for the post

Well, we have all three Spanish assemblies in a huge Rodeo/Disco. I don't think the Disco is "allowed" to operate anymore since the two "groups" divided a few years ago, but before the brothers would be there at 4am setting up for the next day's assembly. The place used to have a western theme, fake buildings made out of wood decorated the walls. It was real dark and dingy. Right before the problems started here it was renovated and now there is purple and silver flower theme. We had an assembly a few weeks ago and during the interview of the DO and his wife someone accidentally turned on some colorful lights! :pistols:

This is as close to that as we will ever get:

*** g96 7/22 p. 23 Spiritual Flowers Grew Out Of Brewery Gulch ***

A few Witness families moved to Bisbee about 1950. Their preaching led to the forming of a congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which grew to 12 members by 1957. They needed a place to meet, so they rented one they could afford—a storefront on Brewery Gulch, across the street from St. Elmo’s saloon. They had few problems with the people who frequented the immoral establishments surrounding them. Occasionally a drunk wandered in during the evening meeting but would just sit in the back and listen—some even made a donation before leaving.

In time the congregation purchased land for a Kingdom Hall—seven miles [11 km] away from Brewery Gulch and its immoral atmosphere. The hall was built and dedicated in 1958. The building has been renovated and expanded three times and still serves the congregation well.
