Tuesday, June 7

Continue putting up with one another and forgiving one another freely.—Col. 3:13.

Some of Jehovah’s servants have felt hurt by a fellow believer. The apostle Paul recognized that at times we might have a valid “cause for complaint against” a brother or a sister. We may even have been treated unjustly. If we are not careful, we could become resentful. Bitterness may eventually cause a person to drift away from Jehovah’s people. Pablo, a brother in South America, was falsely accused of wrongdoing and, as a result, lost a privilege of service in the congregation. How did he react? “I got angry,” says Pablo, “and I gradually drifted away from the congregation.” Or a guilty conscience may torment a person who has broken God’s law in the past, making him feel unworthy of God’s love. Even if he was repentant and was shown mercy, he might feel that he is no longer good enough to be one of God’s people. How do you feel about brothers and sisters who face situations like those just discussed? w20.06 19 ¶6-7

You can't walk with God while holding hands with the Devil.

I'm grateful for this text.  I am blessed to say I feel like I've been treated SO lovingly well by our sisters (brothers also, I just don't know them as closely as sisters) that I take it for granted.  I sincerely hope haven't hurt any of them as discussed in this text.  I want to be very very careful from now on; even body-language can be misunderstood and may lead to hurt feelings.  I feel I'm not always very self-aware.

Again, I appreciate texts like this that cause me to assess myself.  Jehovah God Almighty is awesome love. ❤️

At times, in our extended spiritual family, we might rub each other the wrong way. Step on each other's toes, sort of speak. It is going to happen period.
At that point we have 2 basic choices :
1)get angry /hold a grudge
2)cut them some slack

When considering how to move forward ask yourself 1 question :
What would Jehovah want me to do?

I like how the day‘s text even talks about a situation where the brother was unfairly judged. He was probably confused, hurt and as he says angry because of the way he was dealt with. But his test would be willing to wait on Jehovah, or to lose trust in Jehovah’s ability to fix the situation, which part of the solution was as Paul wrote in Col.3:13.

This is no excuse to mistreat others, especially if one has a measure of authority. But to maintain the unity which is important for Jehovah, it’s important to find ways to nip those angry feelings in the bud, before they blossom in an unhealthy way, and poisonous.
