Let us not become egotistical, stirring up competition with one another, envying one another.—Gal. 5:26.

Social media can be used for a good purpose—for example, to keep in touch with family and friends. Have you observed, though, that some of the material that people post on social media is designed to promote the people themselves? “Look at me” seems to be the message they want to convey. Some even post rude and obscene comments on their own photos or about the photos that others post. This too is contrary to the humility and fellow feeling that Christians are encouraged to cultivate. (1 Pet. 3:8) If you use social media, ask yourself: ‘Might the comments, photos, or videos that I post give others the impression that I am bragging? Could I make others feel jealous?’ Christians do not feel the need for promoting themselves. They follow the Bible’s admonition found in today’s text. Humility will help us avoid getting caught up in the world’s spirit of self-promotion.—1 John 2:16. w20.07 6 ¶14-15

You can't walk with God while holding hands with the Devil.

CULTIVATING HUMILITY

How can we go about gaining this fine quality of humility? It does not come automatically. As with all other fine qualities, we must work at it. It will take time, so we must not become discouraged and think, What’s the use? There is use, even if it does take time and effort and we keep making mistakes.

First of all, we must have an earnest desire to be humble. We must keep reminding ourselves that only by being humble can we please Jehovah God. This is clearly shown at 1 Peter 5:5, where we read: “All of you gird yourselves with lowliness of mind toward one another, because God opposes the haughty ones, but he gives undeserved kindness to the humble ones.” And do we not need God’s undeserved kindness? Can we afford to have Jehovah God oppose us? By regularly reading God’s Word we will gain his mind on humility.—Matt. 18:4; 23:12; Jas. 4:6, 10; 1 Pet. 5:6.  w/70 8/15

The Bible is what very few want to hear but it's the message that everyone is looking for (Prov. 1:20-23 & 3:5,6).

I believe that some people don't understand what it means to be humble. They need to learn what humility is and then work on being humble. I remember brother Morris gave a talk where he mentioned that a brother had a problem with humility, but the brother said he was the most humble person he knew! That is someone that didn't understand what humility is and truly thought they were humble.
