That is an old "conspiracy theory". The astronauts went to the moon. There is no way to keep the number of people who would have had to be in on a hoax quiet for all these years!

Technically, once these photos were digitized, they are no longer "rare." They can now be viewed by anyone anywhere.

Here is the first known photograph of a human. It was taken in 1838 by Louis Daguerre.

This is a busy street in Paris, but the exposure took so long that no people were captured by the camera. The one exception is a man standing on the sidewalk near the bottom left corner. You can see that he is getting his boot shined, which is why he stood still long enough to appear in the photo.
