But I tell you, I give you single moms extra credit as even married mothers can barely keep everything in balance, and that I often hear echoed (and not just from my own experiences). I used to work ft as a single sister in a huge worldwide energy company, and was overworked. I could never do that now,  even if I weren’t married.

I´ve been living alone since March last year, so I eat alone. Sometimes at the table, sometimes on the couch, but most times watching TV while eating, otherwise it is too quiet in the room, the silence makes me feel uncomfortable (we used to talk a lot at dinner with my husband, when I was still married. Now I talk to my cat, but he decides whether to answer or not).

Sometimes I make and share meals w a neighbor who is also a single mom of a tween kiddo, or my daughter and I go out to eat with friends. I have long had this aspiration to have one night a week where I make something really easy, like pasta or soup/ stew in the Instant Pot & invite other family/company-challenged people in our hall to feel free to drop by and get a plate or come eat and do family worship with us. I have a friend in another hall who makes extended family dinner every Sunday. I do cook and have people over but I am often so tired & overwhelmed by work that I haven’t managed to do it more than once every couple months. If anyone else who eats alone more than they’d like wanted to be an accountability partner to challenge/support each other to have a regular weekly or monthly dinner night, I would be down.
