A not so serious poll about physical appearances in the NW.

  1. 1. A not so serious poll about physical appearance in the Nw

    • No one will be considered even slightly more beautiful or uglier. Everyone will have exactly the same value or attraction when it comes to physical appearance. The only thing that matters will be the subjective beauty.
      6
    • A few people will look a tiny bit more attractive objectively but that’s it. No one who is like that will be favored in any way.
      3
    • The power of physical beauty will remain. Some (or many) will always look better than others. But of course, the importance of looking good will be not overestimated as today, so in the end, it won’t matter that much.

It’s true that Jehovah has certain preferences or standard as to the physical appearance of humans. One example might be Job’s newly daughters. Of course, you could argue that Jehovah only created them according to the beauty standard of that time.

The korean culture is so focused in  personal appearance which I found it stressful.

Isnt it that we are taught to see inner beauty  instead of physical appearances?

I almost  fall in love with a bro who is not so handsome in our congregation but then he ruined it. He acted like a teenager telling people around that we are in a relationship which was a turned off for me. The truth is my feelings was still developing and people see that Im often talking to him after meeting.   Then theres a wild speculation about the two us.

Though physical beauty is striking at first, but for me, I treasure inner beauty more. faithful not deceitful .

In the new world,  people will be beautiful/handsome  subjectively.   We will have our own personal standard to marry  and Jehovah as a Father knows our better match.

[Why on earth would you post this poll in the Bible Research, Personal Study, and Scriptural Discussion forum? I have to move more of your posts than anyone else. Do they not categorize things in Korea?]

So, we know that everyone will look young like they did in their youth. We also know that skin conditions and other physical ailments will be eliminated. I think this will mean that everyone will have a measure of attractiveness, even those who grew up being made to believe they were unattractive.

Attractiveness is subjective anyway. What I find attractive isn't the same as what someone else may find attractive. Also, what is considered attractive today isn't what was considered attractive in past decades.

I apologize. It’s not that we don’t categorize things in Korea (some people are obsessed with it) but it’s confusing for me sometimes which goes where. Since the Bible does seem to touch the matter of the objective beauty (as in the case of Job’s new daughters because Jehovah made them) I thought it could go under ‘scriptural discussion.’

I agree that 98% of people can enter the category of subjective beauty.
But there is one percent of people who are excessively not considered beautiful and the other 1% who everyone considers absolutely beautiful and who actually suffer because they draw unnecessary attention all the time, who sometimes end up as celebrities.

During the victorian age, being fat is considered beautiful and wealthy.

But why?

Do they have acne or scars on their face? In the new system they will have nice smooth skin.

Are they obese? In the new system everyone will be healthy.

Do they have a birth defect? In the new system this will be corrected.

Did they stretch out their ears, lips, or nose or did someone physically permanently harm their face? This will get fixed too.

My point is, are that 1% just victims of imperfection, Adamic sin, and Satan's system?

Hey sister, I think focus on appearance is just as prevalent in other cultures. Especially in America. If you get murdered here, it will be more likely to make national headlines if you are above average in appearance than not.

I think the only place focus on appearance wouldn’t be so apparent is in poorer countries.

If you are more attractive in my country, you are more likely hired. The rich dictate the labor system here.

I think that in the new world, we are all beautiful but then personal preference will still exist. I like a guy who is really masculine with muscular and prominent chest not  man who look like weak and feminine, with Christlike personality.  In the media, they make men to be cute, thin and wearing make up which is unattractive to me.

Here is my simple basic thoughts on the matter, as I am a simple and basic person. No-one will stand out as models stand out today. Everyone will be physically beautiful, stunning in fact by today's standards. We know by the end of the thousand years we will all be perfect. Now this is my point, just because we've reached a milestone in being physically beautiful, our journey has not ended, in fact, it is just beginning ... we will continue to grow as the spiritual person getting that much closer to Jehovah every day. So we are focused on the physical right now, rightly so, because we yearn to go where we should have gone from the very beginning. But the end of the matter is not our limited physical growth but our unlimited spiritual growth. Can't wait ... well I can, but yeah very exciting.

Oh.. thats a good point of view. As youve said, we yearn for that beauty because thats how things supposed to be. The term forever is mind boggling, isnt it?

Cant wait for that time either.

When the bible speak about people, it didnt talk much about their appearances. Although, God made all things beautiful in His time, still inner beauty has much bearing to Jehovah. We are created in His image, so in the new world, spirituality and other godly qualities will be more  important.

Jesus was perfect when he came on Earth. The bible didnt describe his looks. and when he was arrested in the garden of Gethsemane, Judas had to kiss him to be identified by soldiers. Although, he is perfect, he didnt stand out  that much among the apostles.

Ah... models. You're right. There will be no models in the new world like the worldly secular influencers of today. Those weird and bizarre fashion clothes won't exist. It's immodest. There's no need to show off undergarments or scanty swimwear. Women probably won't wear 1/4" thick makeup on their faces either, lol.

I'm very simple also.  I want my beauty to be beautiful to Jehovah.  Being beautiful today is actually "ugly" because of all the demands on women (especially young women) to be sexy and, beautiful.  The world only cares about the physical.  Sad to say, even sisters compete not just for beauty but age.

The young ones want to look sexy so, they put on a pound of makeup.  The old ones want to look young so they put on a pound of makeup but, it actually makes them look older.  The makeup creases where there are wrinkles.

Getting old is a part of the inherited sin.  No makeup or cream can erase that.  But, beauty in the eyes of Jehovah is priceless and lasting.  Both in young and old women.

No need to fear getting old if you are in Jehovah's hands.

Remember Anna, Sarah, Elizabeth, Dorcas. They were old but remembered by Jehovah by putting their names on the bible. They were blessed and became part of outstanding people to imitate.

Women exert effort to be attractive for men. However, a real spiritual person care about that inner beauty, years of integrity , years of being faithful in Jehovah rather than that of physical appearance. I dont want spending time with brothers who only cares about youth  which I do understand since getting married means propagating population. So its natural  that guys look for youth and beauty.

Today, Im looking for that  inner person. How much more in the new world. I will be more perfect in looking at people. Not looking at people at their face value.

Having that good looks is just a bonus in Paradise from Jehovah but He wanted us all to be like Him. A real, wise and spiritual person.
