Changes in the New World Translation (nwt-S)?

Recommended Posts

They have found a different one, ... in (2 Cor 6:1) they omitted and removed the Greek word "Kenos" which translated into English is "in vain".

That is why in this text it appears: "do not accept the undeserved kindness of God".

It should correctly say: "do not accept in vain the undeserved kindness of God".

The spirit of this virtual space is plural. -- (Gal 6:18) says: "may the undeserved kindness of Jesus be with the spirit you show".

I don't understand. Who is "they"?

The "in vain" is translated as "and miss its purpose."

no acepten la bondad inmerecida de Dios y luego pierdan de vista el objetivo de esta.

Exactly. Do not "miss it's purpose" gives a better understanding of the meaning and intent of the original text.

We can have absolute confidence in our translation. I have several commentaries which give alternate options for various verses throughout the bible. I'm always impressed with our translation because every time it gives what most scholars say is the superior meaning or selected wording, even in the smallest detail.

So he's saying: 'The translators omitted and removed the Greek word "Kenos".

But as we can see, @Alejandro is incorrect. We do indeed translate "kenos" as 'miss it's purpose' which is the same as 'in vain'.

Byington reads, "And in cooperation too we appeal to you not to give God’s grace such a reception as will make it amount to nothing"
