JW Library and Apple Airplay issues

Recommended Posts

Does anyone else notice this problem? While I am using my ipad and airplaying to a TV screen - I use this when I study with my daughter - it helps her to see on big screen. I'm having problems with the Library App not working. The Bible or Watchtower study is blank. When I cast my device to the TV, and what is happening is when I go to the Bible (see the image) but the screen on the left will be completely blank (the section I circled). Same thing with the Watchtower study. When I go to that the WT stud, it will be blank on the left hand side also. As soon as I quit casting to the TV, the library app will work.

So I cannot use the library app when I cast my ipad to the TV. I have to go to the internet and use the Watchtower Online library at wol.jw.org.

Strange 🤔.

An elderly sister had issues sort of similar (not casting though). Her app did not show daily text or WT. She was told to go to jw.org on her device, then go back to the library. And it fixed the issue.

Now I have no idea how or why this would work, and I wasn’t there to see exactly what she did. But maybe it “pushed” something through, so to speak, and updated it? Sounds weird to me too……

BTW, how do you cast from the library app? I can’t see how, and I’m using Apple to cast with iPad.

To show you what I am doing, at least I think I am using Airplay, I swipe down from the upper right hand corner of the screen, and i get the below image and select the TV. I am using a Samsung TV. Perhaps it is an error on my Samsung TV causing the problem if no one else is able to replicate the issue I am having?

Airplay for apple devices only, and is more for video and images (photos). I forgot we also can cast using mirroring, which works for all screens on your device to any connected tv using your wifi, which is what you are doing. I use Apple TV to cast (because my tv is “dumb” not smart). It may have to do with the internet, perhaps a lag maybe?  Something simple to try, if you haven’t already is to turn off then on both the modem and your apple devices.  That at least resets things.

As I say, airplay is not one thing, it is two very different things. What you’re using is not exactly just “airplay” it would better be called “screen mirroring”

Only on one side now (it used to require both sides)

for example, Roku, a non-Apple device, supports AirPlay as well as screen mirroring

also, I wouldn’t use the word cast here as that usually refers to Google’s competing feature, which is incompatible with airplay
