Backup or restore isn’t functioning

Recommended Posts

Recently, I have noticed that no matter the device I'm using.
I sometimes bump into this problem that whenever I'm trying to backup the JW Library data to Sync with my other devices, the pop up window to select the backup location won't come up. Or when trying to restore from backup nothing happens.
For example, after tapping the cloud with an arrow up to and tap on "Create Backup" ... it flashes indicating that I have pressed it, but nothing pops up. On the other hand. “Restore Backup” works fine, I press it and the location window pops up and I can look for a JWPUB backup file.

The only “Fix” or workaround I have found is.

  1. Make random playlists and/or delete unused ones. Sometimes that causes the backup to work.
  2. Last resort is to reinstall JW Library. For restoring that is fine because I have a backup JWPUB file to restore from. But since my tablet now has the latest notes and tags, I don’t want to reinstall deleting the latest notes I have.

Does anyone know any workaround for this issue?

Sadrac mentions "Playlists": THis worked for me. I was restoreing a backup from my android tablet that did not have a playlist to my windows laptop that did have a playlist, when I tried to restore it said "success" but the result was there wer no note at all, completely blank. After deleting the playlist from the windows app, the retore from the tablet worked perfectly! But of course, now without the play list. Thanks Sadrac.

I have had this issue since version 15.x.x. on Apple devices.

Occasionally it works after downloading updated publications, but very rarely.

I will try the playlist thing, thanks.

I created a blank Playlist in JW Library on my iPad, exported it, and then imported it into JW Library on my iPhone.

My iPhone then accepted the latest backup from my iPad.

Thank you!
