Olympic Games in Paris

The opening ceremony for the Olympic Games is causing a stir on social networks in Europe

" Organizers of the Paris Olympics have apologized for what some critics described as a parody of “The Last Supper” during the lavish opening ceremony on Friday."

"The scene featured drag artists and dancers and was widely criticized by the Catholic church and Christian groups.

The French Catholic Church said the festivities “included scenes of derision and mockery of Christianity.”

But surely the fact that there is 'outrage' shows that currently many people actually don't view religion negatively?

Though as the article indicates, people will see what they want to see, and the games are being held in France, not Italy ....

Mas certamente o fato de haver " indignação " mostra que atualmente muitas pessoas não veem a religião de forma negativa?

"Yes, it's true, but we must remember that those who will turn against religion are not the people, but the government. Once, the Watchtower said that during the Great Tribulation, people would hide what they think about religion, since the attack would come from the government and not from people in general."

"For example: A Brazilian skateboarder, before starting her performance at the Olympic Games, signed the phrase 'Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life' in Brazilian Sign Language. Today, the newspapers are reporting that the International Olympic Committee is going to punish her for doing this, as religious expressions are prohibited at the event."

"It was not clear that the athlete used Brazilian Sign Language."

We must remember, the desire to destroy religion comes from JEHOVAH! He is the one who puts it in the hearts of governments to do so, so it can literally happen overnight, and it doesn’t need to make sense at the time that happens! We do not need to see things in the world being maneuvered, or a buildup of hatred towards religion, it’s going to happen in Jehovah‘s timetable.

And religious leaders have some sway in calling P&S. But once that is achieved things are going to change very quickly. Remember false religion has already fallen, it's her demise we are awaiting.

The opening ceremonies for quite a few Commonwealths and Olympics have had spiritual references.

After hearing all the shock and horror about this being a depiction of the last supper, I happened to be  listening to a discussion about this on the radio in my car yesterday and discovered that it not not what everyone, from tiktokkers to the Catholic Church, assumed it to be.

It's interesting how it is human nature to jump to conclusions, but what the theme actually was, is a lot more logical than thinking it was the last supper, in view of the fact that the games started in Greece. As brother Paul said in his comment above, people will see what they want to see.

........ was in fact inspired by a 17th-century Dutch painting of the Greek Olympian gods, art historians have said.

Leonardo da Vinci’s much-parodied The Last Supper portrays the final meal Jesus is said to have taken with his apostles. However, the creative director of the opening ceremony, Thomas Jolly, denied the scene, titled “Festivity”, was based on the painting.

“That wasn’t my inspiration,” he told BFM TV. “I think it was pretty clear. There’s Dionysus who arrives at the table … Why is he there? Because he’s the god of feasting, of wine, and the father of Sequana, the goddess of the River Seine.”

The idea, Jolly said, was “more to have a big pagan party linked to the gods of Olympus, Olympian, Olympianism …

This explanation makes a lot more sense than the Last Supper.   Pagan gods ~ Olympics.

There were some other things during the opening ceremonies that people attributed to an anti-christian agenda.  I didn't watch, but I have read there was a rider on a pale horse (okay?), a bull (Baal worship) and a woman holding her own decapitated head.  I have no idea what those things mean in that ceremony context  Someone on social media said "This stuff is how we know Satan controls the world".  I would say there are a lot more serious reasons we know Satan controls the world than these drag queens and LBGTQ+++ activists.

That was my first post in my Olympics thread….but it’s not a flashy title like the articles saying it’s the last supper.

I really don’t think it was intended to be the last supper. However it offended people on the level of being entirely not family friendly and that seems to be the biggest offense. It’s definitely poor taste. I mean, why did they need to present a pagan party?  🤦🏻‍♀️

Either way, whatever the intention, it was not packaged as a family show ... when you get newscasters say they watched it with their hands over their eyes peeking through their fingers, then you have a situation. People will wrap it up into whatever box plays to their agendas. We should not, though be surprised at this.

There was a similar cry, but more muted, about the Bull in Birmingham being part of Baal worship ... the Olympics are built on gods and goddesses and competition, so yeah ... the words downhill, slippery, slide, mud and dirt come to mind.
