I am ashamed to admit, I love to read the bible and try to keep the desire. I have such a challenge, with reading. always have for many years. I think It was the way when I went to school. I pray about it too. I find really difficult to concerntrate. stay focused. on any reading.

I get the desire, then I start and then I stop. I have read 2 books in my life.but struggle to commit to the end including the scriptures. with the watchtower

and the other books I look at the scritpures.take in what I read and think how to apply but what motivates you and how do you find the time.to keep going. I want to get back on tract.please

Dear Sis. Gabe,

don't feel too overwhelmed by your difficulties to stay concentrated and focused. Great that you've taken this care also to Jehovah.

Just as a tip/question from someone who also finds it difficult to concentrate on reading material; how about listening to the recordings of our literature and why not also the Bible? Thanks to jw.org there's no more the nuisance of ripping audio CD's slowwww-ly onto the computer and then converting them into MP3 format. I find it best to just keep on listening magazines while on the computer if doing something repetitive because something of it is due to stuck even in my brain. With Bible reading (that once again I need to give another go at, having fallen off my schedule :deadhorse:) when I'm as unfocused as I get, I've tried to go lie down and follow along the reading from a printed NWT, so as to make it stuck a bit.

Of course it could be that listening doesn't work for everybody. And trying to type a post on JWTalk while listening to talks/mags/other similar recordings is of course a bit difficult. But really, I don't think how much of the spiritual material we receive I could nourish without the recordings made available :worship:

To this David said: “What have I done now? I was only asking a question!”

My son likes to listen to the recordings and follow along in his bible or wt or whatever. It also has helped his public reading. After listening and following along a few times, his reading out loud is much better and he also seems to understand the material better as well.

Thanks Julius. I love listening. thank goodness for the mp3 and the provision from www.jw.

I see some have a great routine with reading the bible. before kids It was a little easier and I feel I should do the same. try again.

but fail again. I have a diary and write in that but that doesn't always work. now I am looking for another angle I guess?
