NEW YORK — Eating in is in and eating out is out.

That's the message that inflation-squeezed consumer s have been sending to fast-food companies and other restaurants. Meanwhile food producers are benefitting from more palatable prices in grocery store aisles.

I been saying this for years. Going out once a week is fine. Restaurants food is usually not good for you. The only thing they care is your money while they clogging your heart.

I cannot remember the last time we went out for a meal, perhaps about 2 years or more ago. As for takeaway for dinner, perhaps even longer. And before those times, probably before COVID.

We always cook our own meals.

It’s very costly eating out. Here in the Far North, it will often cost $30-40 or more to eat out.

Personally, I’ll cook what I need on Sunday or Monday, then try and make it last about 3-4 days. After that either cook something else or eat canned food or ramen.

If we eat out, with friends or just alone, it's most often at a Toby carvery (help yourself from food pots and provided portions of selected meats). For 4 of us, with just a main meal, iced water and nothing else, it currently costs c. £32 ($43 US approx.). We prefer to eat mostly at home, where the food is both prepared and sourced as we prefer it to be.

This would be considered a very cheap meal out.
