Emperor Elon

I just wrote this short story. I hope you like it.

 

As he stood at the end of the conference table, he looked at the faces of the men and women waiting for him to speak. He saw kings, queens, royalty.  He saw the rulers of a new world, his world, controlled by the people he controlled. This was the first time he gathered all of them together and he smiled. 

“When I was a child, I was fascinated with the Volkswagen Beetle” He began, but each of them knew every word by heart, it was the beginning of a dream they shared. “The design was unique, unusual. It was the People’s Car but to me, it was much more than that. To me it was an idea, a concept, a way to bring the world to its knees” The faces around the table smiled but evil never left their eyes.

“What if, I said to myself, what if the Volkswagen Beetle was Hitler’s revenge on the world. What if the car was designed to be much more than a car. What if the car was designed to explode. Imagine every Volkswagen Beetle exploding simultaneously. 20 million bombs traveling the streets, roads and alleys of the world, exploding. It would be Hitler’s revenge on the world”

The smiling faces around the table, the future kings and queens of a new world were grinning with each word he spoke. “Then one day I realized that fantasy could become a reality and the power of that reality”

He paused and looked at the head of each division within his vast company. “Today…Today, that reality will give us the world” The evil faces rose and applauded with each word. 

He watched as the man on his right entered the codes in his computer that would initiate the first phase of the plan. Then every face in the room turned to watch the streaming news feeds from around the world on the large video monitor behind him. Almost immediately the news agencies around the world began reporting that every Tesla vehicle in the world had stopped. Millions of vehicles autonomously moved to a safe location and stopped. 

“Now that we have their attention” The man on his right entered another code and immediately the news agencies in the New York area began reporting that every Tesla vehicle in New York city was moving again, autonomously headed toward the downtown area. Some vehicles were occupied and some empty but each of them appeared to be going to the same location.

The men and women in the room, the smiling faces and evil hearts watched intently as helicopter and drone video showed the Tesla vehicles converging in Central Park. The man entered another code, and the video monitor then showed a map of New York City, and they watched that last of the red dots from their own GPS system showing the last vehicle in place.

“The time has come” and the man entered another code and several of the red dots that had converged in New York City Central Park went out and the video monitor went back to the news streams

“Hundreds of people are dead!” “Toxic gases are everywhere!” The video monitor switched to their own satellite imaging system, and they watched the lithium-ion battery toxic gases drifting across Central Park. As the New York emergency response vehicles started to arrive on scene the man entered another code, and several Tesla vehicles moved to block the roads.

    

“Now” and the man entered another code. He watched as his Artificial Intelligence hijacked the news streams and replaced it with a pre-recorded message. Around the world, every phone, every computer, every broadcast played the message simultaneously as it was delivered from his satellite system.

The man entered another code and the Tesla vehicles around the world started moving, converging at capitols around the world.

He watched the recording on the monitor behind him and unconsciously mouthed the words as he watched himself saying to every world leader 
“You will immediately surrender and pronounce me Emperor of the World” 

Then he looked at the future kings and queens of his new world that were gathered with him in his secret location and he smiled.

I think I have heard of Emperor Elon before!  It sure sounds familiar! 🤪
