Life did not give us lemons

Recommended Posts

Life never actually gave us lemons—we created them ourselves. 🍋 Lemons are not

a naturally occurring fruit but a man-made hybrid, the result of crossbreeding

bitter orange and citron. In a way, they symbolize how many of our struggles

are of our own making. We engineer complexities, then complain about their

sourness. So when we say, “When life gives you lemons…”, maybe we should

pause and ask—did life really hand us the problem, or did we cultivate it

ourselves?

It was interesting to search how many "hybrid" fruits we eat. Here's some of them:

Examples of hybrid fruits

  • Pluots: A cross between a plum and an apricot
  • Peacharines: A cross between a peach and a nectarine
  • Pineberries: A cross between a red strawberry and a white strawberry
  • Limequats: A cross between a lime and a kumquat
  • Shasta golds: A cross between temple, dancy, and encore tangerines
  • Oranges: A cross between a pomelo and a mandarin
  • Strawberries: A cross between two different parent species
  • Commercial apples: A cross between different heirloom apples

Other hybrid fruits citrus, grapes, blueberries, tomatoes, and lingonberries.

This reminds me of Deut. 32:4, 5:

4 "The Rock, perfect is his activity,+

For all his ways are justice.+

A God of faithfulness+ who is never unjust;+

Righteous and upright is he.+

5 They are the ones who have acted corruptly.+

They are not his children, the defect is their own."

They are a crooked and twisted generation!+
